Being a Leader (BAL) Workshop
This workshop is designed to leave participants being leaders and exercising leadership effectively as their natural self expression. It requires dealing with those factors (ontological constraints) present in all human beings that constrain each person’s freedom to be and to act in terms of one’s perceptions, emotions, creative imagination, thinking, planning and actions. When one is not constrained by these factors, one’s way of being and acting results naturally in one’s personal best. It also contributes to creating a new science of leadership. Learn more
Creating Course Leaders (CCL) Workshop
This workshop is for scholars who are graduates of Being a Leader and the Effective Exercise of Leadership, those who are interested in teaching the course at their respective institutions. It is designed to support faculty members in higher education in gaining mastery in the delivery of the course.

Being a Leader Instructors
Grace is an associate professor at the Department of Sociology, Gender and Development Studies at Kenyatta University (KU), Nairobi-Kenya. She is currently, a Research Associate at the KU-Women’s Economic Empowerment Hub (KU-WEE) leading the Policy and Advocacy docket. As the PI in the project entitled the “Impact of Programmes and Initiatives Addressing Sexual and Gender Based Violence as a Constraint to Women’s Economic Empowerment” under the Bill & Melinda Gates Grant, which supports the KU-WEE Hub. A part from being a senior faculty member in her university, she has extensively trained in the field of gender studies and leadership.
Besides leading extensive research in the gender world, Grace has been trained in global leadership course in 2015, which propelled her to joining the global team of Leaders in Being a Leader (BAL) Course, back 2016 at the Multi-Media University of Kenya. Thereafter, she has trained in Creating Course Leaders (CCL) as a course instructor four times in the United States of America and Kenya respectively. She was one of the members who delivered this course at Kenyatta University in 2018.

Margaret Oloko is an Associate Professor in the Department of Business Administration, School of Business & Entrepreneurship, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology (JKUAT). She holds a PhD in Business Administration. She has been in the Being a Leader (BAL) Course since 2016 and has had an opportunity to be trained four times on Creating Course Leaders (CCL). She has also had an opportunity to deliver this course as one of the instructors in the following universities – Kenyatta University (February 2018), Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology (March 2019 and 2022) and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (March 2020). She hopes that the forthcoming training to be held at Kenyatta University in the month of November 2023 will make a difference in the lives of the participants.
Dr. Jeri Echeverria spent her entire career in education. Before retiring, she served as Executive Vice Chancellor and Chief Academic Officer of the twenty-three campus California State University system and was named Provost Emerita and Professor of History Emerita at California State University, Fresno. Jeri is the author of several acclaimed histories on immigration to the western United States. She currently manages and leads the Creating Course Leaders Program, the training program for faculty leading the leadership course in higher education. She also personally delivers this leadership course in several universities around the world. Jeri is also the co-founder and Board President of the Foundation for Ontological Leadership Education (FOLE), a charitable US organization committed to the training and development of faculty leading this Leadership Course in their accredited universities and colleges throughout the world.
Abraham Ayieko is a Doctoral student at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). He first interacted with the Ontological/ Phenomenological Model of Leadership at JKUAT in 2019 during which year he also had an opportunity to attend the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Being a Leader (BAL) Course led by Erhard Werner himself, Steve Zaffron, Jeri Echeverria and Khush Cooper, an event that opened up the possibility provided by the course in a very powerful way. In a constant and conscious endeavor to live the Leadership Course distinctions, Abraham has seen drastic transformation in a Catholic Church based Charity, Caritas Homa Bay where he serves as the Executive Director. He was among the team the led the Course at Kwame Nkurumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, Ghana in 2020. He holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) Degree in Strategic Management from Kenyatta University, Kenya.
